Lesson 4

Fixed asset tracking

Assets are individually tracked records. They are the tools, equipment, devices, machines, vehicles, and other items where identity matters more than quantity.

Search intent

For people searching fixed asset tracking, equipment tracking, asset tags, serial number tracking, or asset inventory software.

Assets have identity

An asset record can include an asset tag, serial number, barcode, manufacturer, model, condition, status, and current location.

Assets move differently from inventory

Inventory moves as quantities. Assets move as individual records. This keeps serialized equipment from being mixed into stock counts.

Asset Match supports reconciliation

When teams scan or enter asset identifiers, they can confirm whether an asset is in the expected place and correct location mismatches.

Training steps

  1. Open Assets.
  2. Create a new asset.
  3. Enter the asset tag and identifying details.
  4. Assign category/type, condition, status, and location.
  5. Use Asset Match later to verify location.

Support questions

Anything that needs individual tracking, such as equipment, tools, computers, vehicles, or serialized records.

Can assets have locations?

Yes. Each asset can have a current location and can be moved when needed.
